Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classe Tasting

T. 212-777-5684

Saint-Emilion is the most famous Bordeaux appellation in the right bank region of Bordeaux. Saint-Emilion was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1999 for its cultural and historical landscape. The village is also the most picturesque in the whole region and is worth the trip! Wine has been made there for over 2 thousand years.
Unlike the wines of the Medoc (which focus heavily on Cabernet Sauvignon), Saint- Émilion wines are predominantly made from Merlot and Cabernet Franc, which benefit from the clay- and chalk-rich soils. Merlot makes up the majority (about 65%) of vines planted around Saint-Emilion, and continues to increase in popularity because of the softer, more approachable wine styles it produces.
Wine Lovers of NYC is honored to be able to present 10 Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classe. Saint-Emilion started formal classification of its Chateaux in 1955 and the classifications are subject to revision and review every 10 years. The Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classe are properties (not wineries) that are regarded as producing the best wines in the region
All that said we will have a great tasting of these 10 Grand Cru Classe from the 2012 vintage (a great year for Merlot) on Sunday July 24 from 2-4 pm at Pierre Loti Wine Bar of Gramercy Park, 53 Irving Place at 17th Street.
The tasting will be lead by Bordeaux expert Robin Kelley O'Connor, America's first certified International Bordeaux Wine Educator.
This is the stellar line up of what we will taste (in addition to a surprise aperitif):
