Come taste some delicious (and expensive!) wines in an Old World wine bar.
On December 6 we will have the first of a monthly series of Sunday afternoon tastings at Pierre Loti Chelsea, one of the best wine bars in New York.
This tasting will be special walk-around tasting of 10 Old World wines from France, Italy and Spain, with a dessert Tokaij wine from Hungary (KARDOS TÜNDÉRMESE 2013), all curated by our own world-renowned sommelier. Many of the wines presented will be readily available for purchase at a local wine shop.
Among the wines will be these exclusive high-end wines, two of the most famous "Troisièmes Crus" from the Bordeaux 1855 classifications, together with their "second labels":
- 2002 Château Lagrange (Wine Spectator rating 92) - a wine produced since the 1600s and once praised by Thomas Jefferson!
- 2004 Château d'Issan (Robert Parker rating 91) - quite possibly the oldest winery in Bordeaux, with winemaking records dating to 1152, when the wine produced by what we know of as Chateau d’Issan today was served for the royal wedding between Eleanor of Aquitaine and King Henri II.
There will also be selected artisan cheeses and charcuterie paired with the wines.
This will be a great way to spend a late autumn afternoon with fellow wine lovers in a lovely atmosphere.
Pierre Loti was a famous late 19th - early 20th century French novelist, travel writer, naval sea captain, world adventurer and bon vivant. He was famous for often erotic tales of Asia, the Middle East, Tahiti, North Africa and his native France. He spent a lot of time in Turkey, where he became something of a national hero. The Pierre Loti wine bars are named because of his joy of life and his love of Turkey, as the bars' owner and most of the staff are from there.
As a special treat, Pierre Loti will give you an 10% discount on your next visit to any of their wine bars.
